Hi Carpinus,
----------------------------------------good to see you are crunching again. Maybe to make your day, the CPU 60% default can be increased by using the throttle tool in this link: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=cpuuse#230 Download the tool, set the percent desired, which for many is 100%. Exit and restart UD agent, but only do that if u see the green line at the beginning of the Best Energy Graph .... if near the end, wait until it passes and a red line shows up or realigns, whilst the green line jumps back to the beginning like this (only applicable to FAAH): ![]() If u don't wait u loose all the processing time as the work unit will return to what it's called the last 'Checkpoint' cheers

Thanks for that info.
I have disabled HPF Phase II for now as the last session that I tried to crunch after 20hrs. showed 0%. I am really at a loss for what the problem is, all other programs (WCG) run fine, as do the BOINC projects. Any thoughts.? |

Good Day I have had phase II running now for 60hrs. and it seems to be stuck at 3.6%, it does look like the graphs are showing an increase in work done, also it shows 60% cpu throttle. I was wondering if this program takes alot more time to complete a crunch.? BTW it got to 3% quite quickly if that means anything. It has sat at 3.6% now for approx. 40hrs. Any info would be appreciated. If the 3 graphs in the graphics screen are progressing, the WU is running fine. There are 2 stages per structure attempt and the percent complete is updated at the end of each stage. The first stage is very quick, thus you got to 3.6% easily. The percent complete will jump when the graphs reach the end and it starts another structure. The reason it's progressing so slowly is likey due to 2 things: * A slow CPU (HPF2 requires a lot of CPU) * Running the CPU throttle at 60%. You can change the CPU throttle using a tool we provide. You can download it from the help page here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=cpuuse#230 I am currently working on tweaking the percent complete so it regularly updates during the 2nd stage of the structure. This will help avoid some "stuck" confusion without having to go look at the graphics.

The throttle change takes place in real time, so there is no need to restart the agent. You can verify the throttle change by viewing the graphics screen.

That's an excellent under-lighted piece of information ..... means that if one stops using the PC, just slide up the throttle and walk away and if u feel the current level interferes with what you are doing, just slide it down to where one is happy.

Once again thank you for the info. I shall do another run of Phase II, and do as you suggested regarding the throttling up.

Hi carpinus,
It downloaded wherever your browser is set to store downloads. That can be changed. Anyway, go to Programs / Accessories and select Windows Explorer. Then use it to search for WCGridMaxCPU.exe. Once located, right click on it and make a link, then drag the link onto your desktop. Lawrence |
