Hi Anne, I beg to differ on this.... I'm not the least what you say ! Judging by your blogs etc., you underestimate yourself. Of course everyone will visit your blogs in the hope of a picture  A picture paints a thousand words you know !The talk is certainly of you this weekend, one item coming up frequently is how it is a French lady has the surname Schmidt ? Well, our name is accidental when our culture is factual ...  A picture ? A picture of what ? Me ? Never !  My avatar (on my blog) shows who I am better that an ID photo.As for underestimating myself ... you might be right. |

Certainly some aspects seem to appear in that style ! A picture ? A picture of what ? Me ? Never ! Not even a self portrait ? No thanks, no Picasso style ones  Well, our name is accidental when our culture is factual ... Ahhhh cultured , sophisticated, intelligent, French and witty ! Ohhh the allure of the Continent ! |

It's in Italian & Dutch no different.... can't remember the German at the moment, but ... nay, not gonna say anything about the language of Schiller & Goethe ... 'Nun Himmelhoch jauchzend, denn zum Tode betrübt'.

Like so many German things not exactly translatable like 'ueberhaupt'.... but u were in the ballpark.... something like 'Now in Seventh Heaven, then deadly saddened' would be my feeble effort.
