I found these threads on a couple of other forums. Basically it's about a javascript that sends fake orders directly into some rather nasty spammer's databases.
----------------------------------------When I say "fake" I mean everything. Names, card details ... everything. I chokes their servers with rubbish and makes most of their data useless. Anyway, links so you can make up your own minds. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=153745 http://thecarpcstore.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=389 Enjoy. Download links are in the second thread. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Beware of messages asking people to email warnings about viruses to other people. And - similarly - beware of downloading programs that purport to attack spammers. It is called 'social engineering'. Any time you come across something on the Internet that asks you to download and run a program -- BE SUSPICIOUS. Lawrence |

I followed the links and looked into it. I'm satisfied in myself this isn't a scam. Of course people need to make up they're own minds and that's what I hope they will do.
----------------------------------------This thing doesn't require registration or installation, it just generates and sends fake data to the spammers database. Read what folks say about it, then make up your own mind. The author posts in both of those threads. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

I've asked a couple of friends of mine to decompile the code and see what's in there and they tell my it looks like it does exactly what it's claimed to do.
----------------------------------------Everyone is free to make up they're own mind, but I'm gonna play with it. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

We have to use filters and cleaners that can be and are regularly tricked and bypassed. high ho ban public art continues demt http://www.twra5t.co.uk wont be long before they get links n all What does this have to do with the thread topic? ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

snip ... Any time you come across something on the Internet that asks you to download and run a program -- BE SUSPICIOUS. ... download and run a program. Sort of sounds like the WCG and other grid computing projects, doesn't it.![]() ... Which, I think, is precisely the reason (suspicion and distrust) why we have so much difficulty recruiting volunteers. And that's why I think we need to educate the public that at least certain identified grid projects, like the WCG, are safe. And a good way -- perhaps the easiest place to start -- is with our children in our schools. Yep; I'm promoting my 'Project 2plus2is4' again. Let's try to fix the problem. See link, below.Thanks. |
