Re: Corrupted work units?

Don't think Windows updates are a factor. The pc that had the most trouble with blank wu's was a fresh install of XP Pro SP2 with NO security updates. Two of the others haven't been updated in a couple of months. The last two were fully updated 2 to 3 days before the problem started to occur.

Agreed, one of mine with the problems is actually a Win 2003 Server SP1 with no updates installed.

Re: Corrupted work units?

I have the same problem with my 2 computers. All day yesterday they were crashing. I went back to my profile and unchecked HDC option for downloading work units and have been running fine all night.

Re: Corrupted work units?

Same on my machine:
I am using UDmon for WU queueing. I assigned different projects to the UDmon slots. As you know each slot has a different device ID.
Two slots are assigned to HDC only and showing the same exact behavior: Downloading WU, processing for approx. 5 sec, then downloading next WU. After several attempts it shows the mentioned box regarding virtual memory, virus scanners etc.

My device IDs:
115125
392915

I have 2 slots that are running all projects. I will watch those to see if the HDC will run there. Meanwhile I'll dedicate the 2 HDC slots to the GC project.

Re: Corrupted work units?

The problem is both yours and WCG's. They po'd their plumber's friend and now their pipes don't work right. They don't own the fiber, just rent it like everybody else. Now stuff leaks in, stuff leaks out, it's a mess from one perspective, justice from another perspective. Don't po your plumber's friends, everybody else knows that, now WCG knows it too.

Suggest you reformat your HD. Suggest WCG turf carl.h.

Re: Corrupted work units?

Same problems.

I have four instances of the agent running but can only easily get at three machines…

IBM Thinkpad 1.5GHz, XP Pro SP2, Symantec AV Corporate 9.03.1000, Checkpoint Integrity Flex 6.0.202.000, WCG ID# 300186
Total Physical Memory: 1,024.00 MB
Available Physical Memory: 506.26 MB
Total Virtual Memory: 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory: 1.96 GB
Page File Space: 2.40 GB

PC#1 3.4GHz dual core P4, XP Home SP2, Symantec AV Corporate 9.05.1000, Zone Alarm Pro 6.5.737.000, WCG ID# 437708
Total Physical Memory: 2,048.00 MB
Available Physical Memory: 1.44 GB
Total Virtual Memory: 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory: 1.96 GB
Page File Space: 3.85 GB

PC#2 1.3 GHz, XP Home SP2, Symantec AV Corporate 9.05.1000, Zone Alarm Pro 6.5.737.000, WCG ID# 397247
Total Physical Memory: 1,024.00 MB
Available Physical Memory: 553.06 MB
Total Virtual Memory: 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory: 1.96 GB
Page File Space: 1.26 GB

I experimented using PC#1 and found the following:
- Help Defeat Cancer will not start at all, the agent eventually giving up with the “You have something on your machine…..” message.
- Human Proteome Folding 2 will start sometimes but not others with same error as above.
- FightAIDS@Home appears to start ok but it’s a while since I’ve run this so its early days yet.
- Genome Comparison as above.
- Disabling the ZA and/or AV software has no effect.
- The problem occurs on all three machines. Other than the obvious and sharing internet access through the same LAN and modem/router they have nothing in common.
