confused BOINC vs. UD

Are the BOINC work units bigger or longer than the UD ones? I switched some of my machines from UD to BOINC and it seems that they went from taking around 4 hours to complete to around 8-10 hours now. Same machine, same project. Only difference is UD to BOINC switch. Thanks.

Re: BOINC vs. UD

BOINC and UD get different batches of work units. This means that it is perfectly possible that UD and BOINC are working on differently sized work units.

However, it's important to check that nothing else is causing what you have observed. Are you relying on the final times of the work units, or the predicted times? BOINC takes a little while to adjust so that it gives accurate time predictions.

Re: BOINC vs. UD

on my winXP machine the UDagent was reporting WU's at aprx. 50-100 hours but i switched to BOINC and WU's now report at aprx. 30 hours, these are all FAAH only.

apparently this machine is a "statistical outlier" but thats for a different thread, i suppose........(700Mgh Celeron w/523Mgb RAM)

I was going by actual CPU time. Of course just after I posted this I just got 2 work unit's that will finish in about 4 hours(CPU Time + To Completion Time). Thanks for the input.
