Re: Invalid results

Hello morre,
There has been a recent change. Due to controversy, results that are returned that are Valid are marked Invalid if they claim excessively high point scores and are awarded only half the points that the other Valid work units are awarded. This can produce a quorum of 3 with 2 Valid work units and 1 Invalid work unit. You can check this by going to the Results Status page and clicking on the work unit marked Invalid, to see the other work units in that quorum. If this has started happening to you, make sure that you are running the current recommended BOINC version ( http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php ). Our upcoming project will require BOINC 5.4 or later to run.

Lawrence

Re: Invalid results

To put that into easier English for you morre....

If you are using an optimised client such as crunch3r`s your claim will be marked invalid and reduced by half the credit given to the others .

Re: Invalid results

Morra.

What type of computer do you have?
Older, slower machines have a problem with the new point system and their results are now labelled as invalid, much of the time.

Re: Invalid results

I have an Intel Pentium 4 with 2,4 GHz, i think that machine is fast enough.

I've reinstalled boinc. Client version changed from 5.5.0 to 5.4.11. Looks like i used an optimized client.
Now looking forward for completing the next wu. I hope the problem is solved than.

thanks for quick support smile

Re: Invalid results

Correct. BOiNC 5.5.0 is producing excessive benchmark values.

What Lawrence said about 5.4 relates to the file compression feature for data transmission to and from the servers. Previous versions don't have that.

cheers

Re: Invalid results

One of my computers gets some "invalid" results when I let it run faah projects. Client is 5.4.11 and computer is a 3 year old DELL for crying out loud. No optimised client and I obviously can't optimise that computer. Something needs to be done with the program as receiving half credit when I'm doing nothing wrong does not entice me to keep crunching.

I think this is what you asked for.......

Not there....... The higher of the two (Dhrystone I think) runs around 3500. I don't remember what the lower one is.
