For the past couple of days my points claimed has dropped to about 30 points per FAAH WU. Previously it was running about 55-60. They still take about 5.5 -6 hrs on this machine. I thought the changes in the algorithms just changed the points granted ... not the amount claimed. Any idea what would have caused this change for me?

Do you still have the messages from BOINC, particularly from when your benchmarks ran? Could something about your machine have changed lately?

My guess is that you use an optimized BOINC client. TPTB have decided to cut the credits in half for those that do. ![]() |

dbeeler is talking about point Claimed dropping, not points granted. The changes were in how points granted were determined. I have to wonder if something on the machine changed lately. Maybe the CPU is running hot so it's slowing down its speed? Maybe some part has gone bad? Maybe there's some new task usually running now using more resources at the time the benchmarks are usually run?

Hi dbeele.
This is very interesting and worth continued investigation. Please keep us posted as to what is happening and eventually why it happened. There are many computers which under claim on points and the issues involved are yet to be isolated. Can you tell us your benchmark figures in Gflops and Giops and the type of computer you are using? Cheers. ozylynx ![]() |

Timing of the once every 120 hours benchmark can increase or decrease that value considerably. Go to your message tab and find the last values for Dhry and Whetstone. Sum them up and divide by 480 and u get your hourly claim value that is currently used....for 5 days!
----------------------------------------If u cant find any, go to the menu, second last in BOINC and find 'Start Benchmark'. Do that, note the values and do same as above. Then on the next completion, take the run time and multiply with the hourly claim. U will know the claim value before the result gets send to WCG. The benchmark automatically runs, make it run at night manually just once, and it will always run at night. cheers

Thanks ... I think this was it. I am guessing that the previous time my benchmarks ran was when I was disconnected from power (and my default power mgmt scheme scales the processors back when that is true).
