Quorum Lag

I run several 24/7 dedicated crunchers and I notice that their dialy runtime fluctuates considerably, which I attribute to quorum lag. This makes it a little difficult and slow to try and monitor what's going on.

It would be helpful to be able to monitor PendingPointsClaimed (PPC) both in Total and by device. That way, if runtime seems low I could check PPC, which in this case I would expect to rise, to make sure that the issue is simply one of lag and not something I may need to address.

This would also help by providing more timely feedback when new machines are brought online or upgraded, both individually and for team stats.

Of course, I welcome any other suggestions that might help.

Re: Quorum Lag

From what I've read in past posts, I suspect someone will recommend BoincView. I'm not familiar with it so I can speak to it. From a plain vanilla view, I wonder if pulling Device Manager - Results Status - filtered on Pending Validation may help. You won't have totals but you would have runtime - the CPU time column - that might be of some use.

Re: Quorum Lag

As it is, i asked the BV developer 3/4 months ago to create a column, that picks up the appropriate run time (already monitored and recorded) and multiply it by the benchmark value applicable at time of completion which BOINCview shows in one of the windows. Guess what...... His view was, that it was useless, as what u claim is often quite off. But, feel free to post on his forum, because the indication is for many quite close enough. http://boincview.amanheis.de/forum/index.php

Obviously the WCG Result Status page allows filtering by device and status....does not quite give totals, but a quick copy paste into a spreadsheet will give that answer.

KeithHenry, u r missing out on a great tool allowing management of multiple devices and lots of supplemental data, including CPU efficiency.... it even tells u the claim for the WU in progress....which is why i did not understand the rejection to store the final value reached at 100%.

cheers

Re: Quorum Lag

Checking result status is pretty much what I do now; the problem is that I have 27 pages of pending validations, and while I can filter 1 machine at time, it is quite a tedious process and doesn't help at all for team-wide stats.

The fact that I can do this manually with the existing wcg stat queries means that that an aggregating stat field could be simply added (I realize reformatting stat pages however is not so trivial) by the wcg staff.

Also, thanks to both of you for the heads up on boincview; I'll take a look at that.

Sek, I'm sure it's a good tool for managing multiple machines. I myself don't have much use for it simply because I only have one machine biggrin
