After getting control over a new computer I installed the client, set up the proxy and connection like on my other one. Then it starts downloading the first package: "Reciving <n> from <m> bytes from server".
BUT: when n gets close to m the download stops, the message "No task is executing" comes up, it waits 10 secs and starts over with the next package again. When I look into the temp (like "ud_46112_0.dir") directory of the program directory I can see several files coming up during the download. When it breaks, the directory gets deleted. System: Win NT SP6 P4 2.4 about 20GB free space 1 GB Ram some broadband network It's bad not using this little additional powerhorse. So can anyone help? Any suggestions? Thx in advance, Whampa |

Whampa, so far all our download problems seem to be caused by security protecting against Internet attacks. Here is one thread with a problem a bit different from yours. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=896
So just what sort of security programs do you have? Lawrence |

Whampa, so far all our download problems seem to be caused by security protecting against Internet attacks. ... So just what sort of security programs do you have? Thanks for the advice, but I can't find the difference to my other running computer. Both - are in the same network domain. - use the same proxy, same user/password - use the same virus killer: Trend Micro Office Scan v5.58 - run WinNT SP 6 - have 1 GB Ram Any suggestions? Thx for all! Whampa |

Whampa --
This strange behavior sounds very much like what I saw on one of my systems a while back. I had set the device profile for "Hard Drive Space to Allocate" to 10 GB (the label used to be "Storage Allocation"). After I reduced it to 5 GB, it was able to complete a download. To change the allocation, go to the Member Area and click "Device Manager" and then "Device Profiles" from the list you will see at the left of the page. |
