Not sure what has happened but at the moment Fight Aids @ home is stuck on 50%. It restarts every time I restart my laptop. It might get up to 54% and then the next time I switch it on it is back on 50%. It has finished minimizing the red dotted line (cant remember what that stand for) but the green minimization is just looping. Any idea what is going on.

Hi K-J,
----------------------------------------Please search for other posts that have the 'Stuck' APPEARANCE. Sometimes FAAH will encounter a hurdle it cant get past the first time, second time on and on until it times out and goes to the next segment. Yours seemingly is a type XXVI (segments of about 3.85%).... see here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=8331#70535 Just let is run for 4 / 6 hours. 99.99% of the times it gets past it. If not, report back. ketch u laeter

Its been like this for about 1-2 weeks now. It crunches data but as soon as I restart the computer it goes back to 50%. It is not that I am stuck at 50% is more a problem of being in a loop. the program doesn't seem to remember its previous progress and goes back to 50% again.
I only run it as a screensaver, else I can't work on it. Read the link but my problem seem to be different. |

I have spotted the problem now. I seem to have a type two project. Is there a way for me to change to a new one as my laptop during one day doesn't seams to be able to finish it.

Are you using UD or BOINC?
If you are using BOINC, simply abort the work unit. If not, then you will have to open task manager and go to the Processes tab. Find the process with a name including "faah" and kill it. This causes the work unit to be reported as an error, and you should get a new one. It will take a moment for UD to spot what has happened and sort itself out. |

Ah, yes type II. What u can do is not run it as a screensaver... just untick the box, than obtain the throttle tool to set the background activity to something u feel comfortable with..... it will crunch while u are working, without even noticing. The throttle tool is here: http://worldcommunitygrid.org/files/WCGridMaxCPU.exe
----------------------------------------The explanation of the throttle is here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=cpuuse#230 The default was changed some months ago from 100% to 60% to help computers that were running hot, or were interfering with work. killing a work unit is a last resort when really stuck... there is no prediction if u would again get a type II or a type 26. ketch u laeter.
