Re: no work sent boinc idle for now

BOINC learns from the actual progress versus wallclock time....let it run to completion in 1 go and the TTC (Time To Complete) will soon be close to the CPU time. Interrupt it for 24 hours e.g. half way thru and the TTC will shoot up again. If e.g. it only ran before as screensaver, u soon have a value greater than 7x24 hours which is the deadline....it will thus think u cannot finish in time, thus not give work voluntarily.

cheers

Re: no work sent boinc idle for now

This computer takes on average about 4 hours to complete a work unit. When it does a bench mark on the computer it states it will do a billion floating points per second. Yet I continue to have to babysit the computer and force an update to get a new work unit. The computer is running ubuntu 64 bit operating system. There is not a 64 bit boinc so I assume the one I downloaded is a 32 bit program. I guess there is a problem because of the operating system though.

Hello RicktheBrick,
You are running in 32-bit emulation mode. It does not slow things down much.

How long does it estimate it will take to run a FAAH work unit? Is that resetting to 676 hours each time you update?

Re: no work sent boinc idle for now

There's a post Time to completion excessively high on the BOINC developers forum how u can reset all these <duration_correction_factor> in client_state.xml file to 1.0000000... It would then take SEVERAL WEEKS for the agent to find balance again.

ketch u laeter
