All my eggcorns have fallen of the trees already. I had to read that twice to figure out what kind of trees you had. Okay, I got it, very creative, makes me think of a cross between chickens and maize. Cheers Boy did I goof on that word. Didn't even think about it until you cracked me on it. Time to back to grade school to learn how to spell! On another note, anyone have a cheap eatx case they want to get rid of cheap? That's all I need to build my dual dual core cruncher. Withe eggcorns you can make scrambled eggs and grits. Cheers all. ![]() ![]() |

We should see an uptic in daily contribution for the team
----------------------------------------I had some money left over after caching in some options and my wife "let" me do some upgrades. I am slowly replacing all of my dual processors. Since July 3 I have added 2 AMD 1090ts (6 processors) and just built an I7 980x (12 processors with HT) this weekend. I am expecting this to be the fastest machine on the team, I already have it overclocked to 4.1. You can find the list of teams machines in contribution order here. The 980x is in 24th postion becasue I just turned it on. It will be interesting to see if it can move into first place after 30 days of averaging. Right now I think I have the only AMD 1090ts and I7 980 x. http://boincstats.com/stats/host_cpu_stats.ph...d=6206&st=0&or=10 ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sweet. Soon as I find a case, will build another system. Only 2 dual core woodcrests until I can find some cheap quads. Will have to wait until next year to build a dual six core system. Sold my Mac pro (2008). Apple wants almost 6 grand for a twelve pack. Ridiculous. Can build one for around 3500 or so. Keep us posted on those AMDs. Been eying those. Congrats on the new systems!

It will be interesting to see just how well they do. We appreciate all the additional speed and I am sure the scientists do also. Cheers

I am expecting this to be the fastest machine on the team, I already have it overclocked to 4.1. At work here I run on a dual Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5540 @ 2.53GHz. 16 threads. It should do close to 10,000 credits/day if I ran 16 instances... however I only run 3 since we need to have capacity for development... :)

My son bought a computer over the weekend...
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0337324 Have gave me a core (1) to crunch on. I will try and sneak another core when he is not looking. Heck, I'm paying for the power anyway right? ![]() |

If your paying the electric bill, tell him crunching when not in use is payment for using the electricity. 4 cores should be enough. I finally ordered my case so hopefully will have it together by sunday to crunch. Found some quad harpertowns that I might get. trying to talk him down on the price.

He said until I can find something to keep it cooler while crunching, one is all I get. The macs have a utility called smcfan control that let's you manually boost the fan speed. Right now I'm playing with speedfan. I really gets hot when all 8 threads are running. Almost 90C. That's just too freakin hot. Sipping on a CynicAle by Surly Brewing. Darn good beer! |

Don't think I would crunch without controlling the fans. But, my 8 core on a asus mobo running ubuntu seems to keep cool using smart fan II. All cores under 150F.
