Help needed. I have installed and compiled a shiny linux GNU/Debian on an HPPA. Now, I have attched to the World Community Grid without any problem but it will not dispatch work for me because my system is “unknown” You need not only BOINC, you need also to compile the science application for this platform. All BOINC projects except SETI are closed source Btw. are you interested at compile the SETI application for Linux on PARISC and make the binaries public available ? - If you need assistance, I am shure that I could assist you. |

Dotsch,
Sorry, did not notice your post. This thread was a mess. Unfortunately, I put back the HPux on that box. Maybe next time… Thanks, dbmms |

Dotsch, Sorry, did not notice your post. This thread was a mess. No problem. It is understandable. Unfortunately, I put back the HPux on that box. Maybe next time… HPUX is a great OS ! :-) Btw. SIMAP and SETI offers binaries for HPUX. I am testing and compiling binaries for SETI Beta on HPUX 11i (PARISC) too, if there will be new versions released. If you are interested in SETI beta, I can provide you the new binaries if there will be a version change done. The reason, I have asked is that I have started a thread at the SETI Unix Help Desk and Number Crunching forums for requests of missing ports from the users of not officaly supported platforms. So I thought, if you have made a binary or wan't to make a binary, whe have binaries for one more not officaly supported platform... But I am thinking about to install a Linux on my PARISC system and try to compile it. [Edit 5 times, last edit by Dotsch at Nov 5, 2006 10:28:30 PM] |

Just to bring this thread to a (happy?) close…
----------------------------------------Here is as FYI (I have posted it also on the seti board) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finally I manage to install seti on my debian HPPA. If someone out there have a box, here is how I have installed it. -Set you sources.list (/etc/apt/sources.list) to the follow debian ftp deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian unstable main -update # apt-get update -install the boinc client # apt-get install boinc-client -install the seti client # apt-get install boinc-app-seti Don’t try to install the boinc manager its broken!!! -Edit the “remote_hosts.cfg” to allow remote manager control (/var/lib/boinc-client /remote_hosts.cfg) add the ip of a trusted boinc manager -->Boinc runs as a daemon and I had some problem restart it so I rebooted... -So reboot After the reboot access your new seti from a trusted boinc manager and attached it to the seti project. Reboot again and your good to go! BR, dbmms [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 10, 2006 1:59:14 PM] |
