I can not get boinc to work on an amd64 computer. I am using ubuntu 64 bit operating system. I have installed boinc but when I try to attach wcg I get access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. I have tried several times. Boinc keeps telling me to go to file/select computer but the only thing under the file menu is exit. I have tried tools but the program never gives me the chance to input a project when I select attach project or manager.

I finally got it to work. I started a terminal and changed to the BOINC directory. I than ran ./run_manager. The computer than started up the boinc manager and asked me the questions to attach wcg to it. I was still having problems because if I would close the terminal program boinc would also shut down. I tried to start boinc by going to applications/accessories but it would start with no projects. I than put the boinc manager in my startup. When I booted up the computer again boinc was running with the project running.
