If it happens again and u want to know the source of your disconnects, pull your internet connection first, then close the Firewall next. If BOINC still not resuming by itself, close antivir. Had one event again today, first in 14 days.....gradually coming to be convinced that personal software firewalls are not able to handle multiple comms traffic (Wifi, Bluetooth, RPC on one box), whatever make.

thanks serkob, it seems to only happen after i reconnect my bluetooth headset. my workaround is to do a "repair" off the boinc installation. i guess it's something i'm going to have to live with

Maybe I should practice saying "Device driver" as one explosive expletive. Yet another possibility to remember when communications go awry.  Lawrence |
