Hi,
for the last two or three days when i tried to reach the My Grid page, the browser got really really slow and finally after a few minutes threw out an error message about being unable to connect to the server. So i tried again and noticed that first it cycles between http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/viewLogin.do and http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/j_security_check_wrapper via http 302 responses. This is quite annoying, since i cant get in. Anyone seen this behavior? My setup is: MSIE 6, localhost http proxy (www.privoxy.org) forwarding to company proxy (winproxy). |

Hello madmaxoft,
It works fine for me. I am trying to think of how a proxy problem could cause your problem, but I am puzzled. Does anybody have any ideas? Lawrence |

The error madmaxoft reports seen once or twice....Capslock or sticky Shift maybe? Alternate entry point is the Index of the forum, then log in and move over to My Grid....but too frequent it just sits there for minutes.
----------------------------------------Maybe the forum / wcg website is cracking at the seams with the growth its going thru in client use post vacation season...... all is fine with everything on the web but WCG timing out or just sitting there ad infinitum. Actually been going on since a few weeks.....seems to happen at certain parts of the day, particular when all the team traffic comes on board. How many are browsing the Results details with expanding BOINC? ciao

Did some search on http 302...... some unsavory feedback at Clusty on redirect and pagejacking. WCG sits on http://www.w.....g.org and https://secure.w.....g.org....sometimes when logging in end up on the secure., sometimes on www.

It's just a redirect. All the 3xx series are redirects. 4xx series are bad requests (not found, and so on), 5xx are server errors.
A 302 response is NOT an error. |

I've been troubleshooting my WCG on/off for a few days now. I removed it from add/remove programs, and reinstalled, but when I get to the Grid Agent Registration (and checkmark "Click here if you are an existing member") it fails to login.
The error I get when I try to login reads, "Unable to connect to the Grid Server. Please try again." Continuing with, "Blah blah blah proxy server...", which I have none and need none, so wtf? I've edited my firewall to list WCG server as trusted. I've edited my Data Execution Prevention to except WCG and UD agents. I know I meet the system requirements, but I can't get the agent to run. I ask you: any ideas? |

Hello llongto,
What security programs are you running? Which client are you trying to install - BOINC or UD? Lawrence |

@ madmaxoft, did some further research and have set explitivly port 8080 as an allowed port ONLY from www.w....d.org and secure.w......d.org. Can be pure coincidence but telling the firewall to let traffic pass from 8080 if INcoming from wcg Only, has ended so far all this intermittent none-responsiveness for me (20 hrs now).
----------------------------------------I'm sitting on the incoming end, so don't care about company network/firewall policies, but there is a strong warning in this post: http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-list/2002-September/033089.html This is a current 8080 usage report on the web....with 1 exception all was TCP, not UDP: http://isc.sans.org/port_details.php?port=808...0&Redraw=Submit+Query Included comment: "Often used for http proxy." WCG has a page for Proxy Settings & More proxy help (please) :-( For clarity, 8080 is not open on my side, its only when WCG sends from 8080 (porto remoto), directly or indirectly. Let us know....maybe the WCG techs could confirm what's up with this port, if at all of importance. Bona fortuna ![]() PS. I'll post if i have the problem again!
