problem with game with gene folding running

I found that the software caused problems in a game I was running (Port Royal2).
I have uninstalled the software. Maybe a screen saver mode would be better than trying to share the processer. Running xp athalon at 2200mh
512 ram.

You seem to have come up with the solution on your own. Checking the Run as Screen Saver box in your Agent Profile will cause it to get out of your way whenever you want to use your computer, Alternatively, you can control it manually by right-clicking on the icon and clicking on Exit. In this case, the FAQs tell you how to get to your Start Menu to manually restart the UD.exe Grid Agent (I cannot remember the long string of directories off the top of my head).

Sounds like you ran into a memory exhaustion issue. Rosetta does use a lot of memory, so here are several solutions you can choose:

  • Increase the size of your paging file. This will help the memory exhaustion issue (if that's what you had), but things might be a little slower due to paging.
  • Simply stop the agent while playing games. This is what I do. I then restart it when I'm done playing.
  • Run only as a screen saver. You can select this option on the Preferences page on the agent.

I'm also working on reducing the memory usage of Rosetta. The next update, which should hit the servers this week, is a big step in that direction.
