I just started folding with my new system [E6700] and I noticed in the task manager that my CPU usage is at 25%!
I understand that UD agent is not a multithreaded application but it should be able to completely utilize one of the two cores! Shouldn't my CPU usage read 50%?! |

What a terrible waste to use UD agent on a dual core machine when u can use BOINC to use the full capacity and then double your production on top. The 25-30% u see is the 60% UD Agent default of 50% = 1 core. There is a throttle tool to bring it up to 100% of 1 core. After applying u will see still only 50% in Taskmanager with UD Agent.

BOINC does almost everything UD agent does and more. The only thing it lacks is the graphics but that is being tested as we speak and will likely be available very soon. At the very least you should try both for a few days and see which one you like best.
One BIG advantage to BOINC is that it gives better error messages and logs. When you have a problem and need help the error messages and logs make it so much easier to determine the problem and correct it. BOINC is highly recommended. |

From Where do I download BOINC?
I briefly read in another thread that the software is in alpha or beta phase. Is that true? |

Just go to the download page again, and there is an option at the bottom to use BOINC. Alternatively, you can download it directly from Berkeley.
BOINC has been stable for a long time. However, like all good software, it is being actively developed. This means that in addition to the stable version, there is an alpha version that is being tested by dedicated volunteers. |

Yep, get that bad-boy Conroe crunching with BOINC ASAP. I run it on both my AMD X2's and it works perfectly. Just be sure to read the install instructions carefully and browse through all the settings on the Agent as well as in "my grid" here on the site. The default settings are usually OK but you may like to tweak them here and there.
