I have an issue with the WCG program on one of my computers. After I install it, it attempts to connect to the server to get work and never finishes. It says grid execution paused. From then on every time I try and make it connect, it tryes to receive 3736 of 3736 bytes (which is wrong I think because the work units are larger than that). I have to re-install it to get it to try to download a full work unit. But it always quits and goes into paused mode. My firewall settings (XP windows firewall) are to allow full internet access to the WCG program.
My internet connection on this computer is satellite. Any help would be appreciated.  |

It sounds like your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for any of the current WCG projects. In particular, you need at least 250MB of physical memory (excluding shared video memory).
Do you have all the WCG projects enabled? (They are all enabled by default.) I'm sorry the agent doesn't give a more helpful message. It's a limitation of the United Devices software. |

Does your system meet these requirements?

----------------------------------------here a link to the Agent Paused page that includes description of the event u observe. It can be found in the Help, right hand top corner of all WCG web pages. This one probably falls in the 'Most FAQ' category.....x bytes of x bytes...... if the C.A.'s could please promote for that one to be added to the pausing page or as addition to the Starting Here department on this forum. ciao

You were correct. I recently purchased a 2GB memory upgrade for the computer and now it works like a charm.
