I am new to WGC. I have completed 2 WU's. The first took 3 days, the second took 4 days to complete. The current WU has been running for 4 days already. For 2 days the % complete and cpu time kept resetting to 0. The cpu time and % began to increment and now reads 17.3% in 61 hours. At this rate the WU should take about 299 hours (12 days) to finish. Are any other work units this long? Should I download an new WU (if so, how?) or just keep crunching?
Any advice will be appriciated! |

Hi there,
----------------------------------------there might be several reason why for your 3rd WU your CPU time and % keep resetting to 0. One is perhaps the space allocation your gave your device might be too small? Another might be computer was unable to fold that particular protein? (although if this was the case, you would have seen something change on your score and total CPU time). But at least it is running again. As to your question of a big WU...On my device, I have encountered ones that finish within 12 hours, and others that took as many as 7 days to finish, so yes, there might be WU that takes a long time to compute. As long as it's still progressing, I wouldn't worry too much. A good example of a big unit can be seen here posted by David :) http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=857 wonder will anyone break that Hope this helps a bit!! thanks for the input john,
WU is now 94 hours cpu time and 24.5% so i guess I'll keep crunching as long as it keeps going. |
