pmg image in www.worldcommunitygrid.org folder

Can anyone explain me what is presented in this picture? I'm using boinc client, for the reference. It is located in BOINC\projects\www.worldcommunitygrid.org\
I opened the image with XnView, but in order to host it on imageshack I needed to convert it from pmg to jpg.

Here's the picture:

Very much looks like a lab slide of a Cancer target. You see these images when crunching HDC on UD Agent rather than BOINC. The technical reason why they are there....digital matching with the calculations that the science does would be my best bet.

Sekerob is more or less right. The HDC science application uses advanced image filtering techniques on the actual tissue sample image.

Ron, the image is far too big to post here, please will you replace it with a link? If you don't a WCG admin may remove it for you.

Re: pmg image in www.worldcommunitygrid.org folder

I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall a recent post by knreed mentioning that pmg files were being added to the BOINC downloads. He was doing this to live test part of the code that needs to be added to the server for the GUI interface upgrade being planned for BOINC.

I cannot find such a post, so I may be confused.

A png file. It's a different one, to support the upcoming Simple GUI.

raised eyebrow If it were for the gloss-up of the BOINC Graphical User Interface, Nearing your Desktop VERY SOON , that would be a hefty one at 1.407 mb per pmg x 4,000 HDC daily production x 3 quorum = 17 Gb minimum thru the pipeline per calendar day shhh )
