Αnyone have a suggested profile 4 dial-up or broadband with small d/l limit?
hmm dunno , just a thought, mmy computers were all on cable till this morning, one went with the Mrs to uni today so is offline, hmm no big deal. last time i went away (to the cardiac society meeting in canberra australia) i did not then have my laptop. but now we do and could prob get some dial-up access when away from cable.. any suggestions? might be a useful thing if someone comes up with recommended use pattern for those on dial-up or low mb allowance etc... cheers.. |

Set BOINC's WU cache to 1 day and modify your profile on the website to connect to the network only between certain hours, eg. between 1 AM and 4 AM. Then just leave your laptop plugged to the phone jack overnight and it should upload results and replenish the cache. I've never tried that but it should work.

If the main problem is a low MB allowance, the UD client does an excellent job of compressing FAAH.

If staying at a hotel you would also have to prefix the phone number with a 9 or 0 or whatever to get a line out.
