Don't hack it. That's not a sensible solution.

You will always lose a small amount of work when you reboot, due to the nature of the science - no matter what agent you use. I suggest you don't worry about it.

I lost 19 percent completion in the Defeat Cancer project, and that was just too big a hit. I tried to delete the project the same way I deleted another project I was having the same problem with, by going on the WCG web site, unchecking the project, then killing the process and its files to force an update. The first project deletion did not give me a problem. The second one did. Hacking is undesirable but there were no alternatives.

I used the installer to uninstall it - it automatically uninstalls if already present on the system, at least that is what was done with the installer that I had originally when it was installed.
