Message from server: (won't finish in time)

Hello,

can anybody help me with this messages:

16/08/2006 15:44:48|World Community Grid|Message from server: No work could be sent.
16/08/2006 15:44:48|World Community Grid|Message from server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 91.0% of time, BOINC on 87.9% of that, this project gets 100.0% of that
16/08/2006 15:44:48|World Community Grid|No work from project

I can't understand the messages. What can I do that the client will fetch wor again prior to finishing the running WU?

Thanks in advance.

Oesterreicher.....were u the one that reported a BOINC projected completion time of 800 hrs for a WU? If so, did u let that WU finish without interruption? What is present projection?

NB also seem to remember you wrote, that it would fetch a new WU soon as it send in the result for the current. That in theory looses you only so much crunching time as the duration of the transmission.

Re: Message from server: (won't finish in time)

The normal timeframe for finishing the WU is around 6-10 hours which is normal.

The only point is that the To complete estimation is starting by around 800 hours including the messages:
16/08/2006 11:48:01||Using earliest-deadline-first scheduling because computer is overcommitted.
16/08/2006 11:48:01||Suspending work fetch because computer is overcommitted.

By around 80 % finishing I get the following messages:
16/08/2006 14:24:45||Allowing work fetch again.
16/08/2006 14:47:58||Resuming round-robin CPU scheduling.

The to complete estimation is running down around 1 minute per 1 second CPU time.
Now I have
CPU time : 7:30:00
Progress: 92.700 %
To complete: 04:46:00

Thanks in advance.

Re: Message from server: (won't finish in time)

For the moment, suggest to have a good look at your BOINC profile and see if the "Do work only between the hours of: " and other settings are correct. Save the profile, even if u dont make a change and hit update button on the "Projects" tab of BOINC Manager. This forces the settings on your computer to be refreshed with the latest copy from the server This is the link to the "Default" profile: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/v...iguration.do?name=Default

Here's a possible answer: http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/122097561/m/237005977731. Change to 'work always active'

Let us know one way or the other, so the next 'victim' has a reference here on the forum.

Re: Message from server: (won't finish in time)

oesterreicher, are you using the official client and not an alpha or third party build?

If you are using the official client, then you should reset the WCG project, and hopefully BOINC will start its estimation calculations afresh.

Re: Message from server: (won't finish in time)

The project Reset was the key.

I lost atound 3 hours of crunching but the estimates are now back to around 7 hours.

Thanks everybody for the help.
