Someone in a longer thread asked for the 'how to' which i will combine with another tip to just get for instance the UD agent window and not the whole desktop with private data, if any. Every picture tells a story, and are wonderful vehicles to support a Question, which makes the A in the Q&A much easier. Here we go:
----------------------------------------1. Screenprint we all know....just hit that button. But, did u know that if u hold the ctrl+alt key, then hitting the Prt Scr key will only capture the active window? (Hold Alt key, left or right + Prt Scr also works for most all). 2. Open 'Paint' (a free in-windows accessoires) or some other picture editor program and past it in. Cut the section u'd like the reader to see, hit file, new, no save, then past the cut part back in. 3. Save the file to Desktop with a meaningful name preselecting 'jpg' format from the drop down box under the file name u choose (NB2/3). 4. Open browser and go to a free picture storage service like ImageShack e.g http://img46.imageshack.us/. 5. Work the options like the screenprint A. then hit the 'Host-It' button. 6. A page like screenprint B will appear, with various links. We are going to pick the part circled in the second link below the thumbnail (sample screenprint C) and past that into the forum post. Edit/Add beginning/ending 'img' with square brackets making sure its small as the forum coding is case sensitive. Alternate, select/highlight only the http:..........jpg part and hit the image button up top in the posting screen to insert the proper coding. Make sure that [] brackets come in pairs....remove any single ones. 7. Hit preview buttom below the post draft to see if product meets the requirement, then post. NB1, if u right click on any picture (except those that have intentionally been protected), then select properties, u can see the full adress of where a picture is stored!.....u can reuse the displayed link again and again, until ImageShack decides it had enough of the free storage....then use the paid service part ![]() NB2: The forum has picture posting rules: Dont use more than 640 pixel wide. I've seen larger once removed by the moderators. NB3: When creating your picture, save it as JPG. It's small and still maintains good resolution and fair colour.....it's just for illustration and not for the family album....format like PNG with lots of colours demand large bandwidth which is not nice for readers on dial-up or ISDN. Screenprint A. ![]() Screenprint B. ![]() Screenprint C. ![]() PLEASE STAY STRICTLY ON-TOPIC.... IF U WISH TO ADD PICTURE POSTING COMMENTS, IT COULD BE INCORPORATED AS CLARIFICATION IN THE ORIGINAL........WE DO THIS FOR FUN (I TRY NOT TO FORGET)! ![]()

Just the ALT key with PRINT SCREEN is sufficient to take a screenshot of the active window only.

David, yes indeed, but unfortunately for whatever reason sometimes alt-prt does not work (a latency bug in my bluetooth connected keyboard maybe?), so stick with ctrl-alt-prt scr as surefire and add the alt-prt as......alternate ;>)

Excellent post, Sek, but I disagree slightly with your point #3 which says:
----------------------------------------3. Save the file to Desktop with a meaningful name preselecting 'jpg' format from the drop down box under the file name u choose. That will save the file in JPEG format which will give a small file size but unfortunately it will have color artifacting and will result in a "fuzzy" picture. It is better to save the file in PNG format (.png) which will also give a small file size but will not give color artifacting and will thus result in a much clearer image. PNG format is available in Paint in Win XP but not in Win 98/ME, not sure about Win 2K. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 9, 2006 8:34:17 PM] |

] Great Halfcard, but please check your [ ] bracketing as your post is causing misalignment with previous and later posts......u did not employ the cut/paste part, since on some computers the graphics do not fill out the active window which in UD is not resizable
---------------------------------------- The png format is great, but the non-artifacting 'family album' quality put quite some strain on my machine, so i'll stick with jpg.

Yikes!! Half a meg for that pic. OK, now ya'll know I'm no graphics wizard.
![]() I saved a few screeshots recently for some graphics on WCGwiki and found the PNG versions were not much bigger than the JPEG versions. I think it was because those pics used very few colors whereas halfcard's has lots of colors. OK, JPEG is still a good choice but you'll change your tune once you get with the DSL. ![]() |

Here another site that stores screen-shots u wish to include in posts on this forum to support a question / amplify the message:
----------------------------------------http://www.photobucket.com/ Opposed to imageshack this has personal folders so it's easy to retrieve any previous screenhots/images generated AND to remove them again ;>) David Autumns will be pleased as they plug Flock as alternate web-browser :D ciao
