It's not finished yet.
It will be included in a future version of BOINC, and will be supplied by default by WCG. |

The graphics are nice but how long can the mind be entertained by pictures of folding proteins? If you've seen one then you've pretty much seen them all, no? It's a bad waste of good CPU cycles if you ask me.
I would rather see a second progress bar that could be used to indicate progress within the converging loops/routines where the primary progress bar does not update. I think it would help crunchers know if their work unit is stuck or not. |

This isn't what the WCG BOINC graphics will look like.
The bit that looks like it ought to contain graphics will contain a static picture. |

Perhaps the interface needs changeable. Showing the same kind of graphics can lose our interest.

The normal BOINC graphics will be available too.
WCG have plans for supporting BOINC graphics, but it is seperate from their Simple GUI project. I have seen mockups of the proposed graphics, and it's looking very nice indeed. |

Does my memory fool me to have read it will be skinnable? That really would be icing on the eyecandy lovers cake.....imagine a skins competition on top of the successful banner and button one (sorry Dave but these are the folk that will get you some and more and btw, has Graham entered any?)
----------------------------------------From a previous post, the molecule graph in the sample was just a cut/past job for presentation purposes. Dagorath, suppose we're free to choose to use the WCG K.I.S.S. version or BOINC 'Classic'....i think we're not going to let that subsegment progress indication be forgotten....staying vocal, but The HDC bar presently shows 4 segments (it has that function), it just needs some tweaking to show more/less if different segmentation comes up, which will as was indicated. The FAAH is now essentially clear, green and red dotted line, to know when to exit it for the boot i just did courtesy of Bill G. BTW the very latest FAAH (Aug.08,06) have segments/checkpoints of less than 5%......i'll add it to the ref table been keeping in a post.

The new Simple BOINC version is skinnable. What you are seeing in this forum is a WCG skin. We'll list out what can be customized so anyone can make their own look and feel. It will initially come up with a default BOINC skin. What we've shown here is the WCG skin.
The graphics in the middle of the picture aren't live, but it will be animated. Right now it is an animated gif which is a representation of the real graphics. It takes very little cpu. If you click on it, you'll launch the real BOINC graphics-- the same as clicking show graphics on the current BOINC Manager. Thanks, Blaine. |
