cool Re: AMD64

As WCG uses HTTPS in the communications with the client, download this new x86-64 Linux client, still version 5.8.11, boinc_5.8.11_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.tgz, copy all the files in it to your system's working BOINC directory and restart the client to start crunching for WCG.

For more information, see BoincStats Forum.

Actually, as I just found out, the client doesn't even need to be restarted. Just copy the file ca-bundle.crt to the BOINC working directory and the next time that it communicates with WCG it'll then use the right public keys.

Re: AMD64

Correction: the x86-64 Linux client, version 5.8.11, can be downloaded from boinc_5.8.11_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.tgz (make sure to copy both files to the BOINC working directory). The new x64 Windows client, version 5.8.11, by Crunch3r, can be found at boinc_5.8.11_windows_amd64.zip.

For more information, see BoincStats Forum.

For peace of mind, one can get the file from the BOINC servers too: ca-bundle.crt.

Re: AMD64

An updated x86-64 Linux client, version 5.8.15, can be downloaded from boinc_5.8.15_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.tgz (make sure to read the file "README.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" in it).

Crunch3r's x64 Windows client, version 5.8.11, can be found at boinc_5.8.11_windows_amd64.zip.

For more information, see BoincStats Forum.

I don't think you should be posting the x64 Windows client because no one can use this client with WCG yet, smile.

Re: AMD64

Standby for clarification on this from the technical staff. Know that 32bit apps are send to the 32bit BOINC version run on Win64 platform.

Adding the clarification:

There were no requests for any sort of 64 bit Windows during the time WCG were adding the support for FreeBSD and 64 bit linux.

If there are sufficient requests and identify themselves as such, WCG might consider sending the 32 bit binaries. The obvious consequence is, that by attaching a Win/BOINC64 to the project, no work will be send presently.

Not sure about the performance penalty or benefit in doing that, client side.

Re: AMD64

To clarify - if I see even one 64 bit Windows client then we will update the server to send the 32 bit binary. However, we want to make sure that we are setting the proper platform string for the binary which is why I'm waiting to see it in the logs.

Hello,

I tried the 64-bit client before and I tried again a while ago:

What does this mean?
