Perhaps the following statement could just be mentioned once at the top or bottom of the main forum page. This would make the descriptions of each forum much more reader friendly.
"Any post that is offensive can be removed by the Forum Administrator. Posts that go off-topic can be closed by the Forum Administrator." Tara |

This statement is in the Rules, accessible from the dark gray bar near the top:
----------------------------------------"Any offensive or inappropriate forum post may be edited, locked, or removed at the sole discretion of World Community Grid. " Welcome. Hopefully it was not an offensive post somewhere that made you post here for the first time.

In the last few days i've seen a crop of words that, unless lost in translation, in my dictionary are strong words. We should not forget, that we use 'english' here as the vehicle to communicate, but there are here many readers/participants and readers anonymous, that get sometimes the wrong impression from too cozy an exchange......o well, who knows what was said at the Roman Forum....at least they had a dresscode

On the Off topic part of the question - it often happens that topic drifts, or even goes off at a tangent. Deciding how relevant a post is to the topic is highly subjective, and it would be a shame to stifle something thet is the very nature of lively natural conversation.
----------------------------------------It would be good if we had a "Tangent Button" to automatically create a new thread (while writing to original thread) linked to a post in the original thread. Readers could then choose to jump to link in either direction. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dirk Gently at Jul 15, 2006 9:49:02 AM] |
