System requirements for participating in the BOINC SIMAP project
* Medium bandwidth internet access, due to typical workunit and result sizes (estimated for approx. 1 hour of calculation time):
o Workunit 2 MB
o Result 0.5..1.5 MB

shadowvibe, it may be worth sticking around for the next project.

I am fairly certain that the next project will a) launch very soon and b) have lower system requirements. It is completely different to the molecular simulations we have been running on the grid so far.

That would be nice, but my computer has nothing to do in the meantime....
at least i have 2 other computers running so I'm still contributing (just slightly less now)

It just sux that the old computer was doing fine now cant b/c the rules changed not the abilities. sure it may take longer for it to finish its task, but thats all it had to do and it did get the jobs done.

Re: Agent Paused - See Details

The minimum requirements also protect computers from a load they can't handle. With the less frequent checkpoints of HPF2, it might be quite possible for you never to reach a checkpoint and thus never make any progress unless you keep the machine working constantly.

I know it's a little frustrating when you don't care about the impact WCG has on the computer, but WCG have to put safety first and not allow the crunching to affect a computer's normal operation.

You may (I can't guarantee this) be able to get around the processor requirement by switching to BOINC. BOINC measures performance differently, and since this particular machine has an unusually large amount of memory for such an old machine, it may just do some crunching for you. Try it, and report back :-)

Re: Agent Paused - See Details

Someone of WCG might want to contact the 'Unofficial' Boinc Wiki editors. The project hardware/software listing for WCG is outdated...shows 114mb ram for Rosetta BOINC Powered Projects

Goes for FAAH as well btw since its been again repeated here that is has same needs as HPF2.....dont want people to be disappointed arriving here thru that route.

(When doing, plz make it say that it is exclusive of Video requirements)

Hi Sekerob,
They seem to have measured actual usage, which is much less than the minimum requirements enforced by the server. Why not drop them a note about our minimum system requirements on their message board? You will probably see many other improvements you can suggest.

Re: Agent Paused - See Details

I'm having the same problem.

"Receiving 3355 of 3355 bytes of....." and then program become paused.

My agent is in a continual paused state.

I checked my firewall settings, I have enough memory and processor power.

I'm signed up to work on FAAH, HPF2, HPF.

Nothing !
Now that HPF2 has launched and I still don't get any work units.

I need help too.
