HELP!!!!! My grid won't download a new unit! It just says that it's paused. When I click to load get a new unit, it connects, saying "Receiving 3362 of 3362 bytes" then goes back to "Agent Paused". I've done this several times and it just does the same thing. I've rebooted my comp several times and it isn't helping. I know something's wrong because my desktop is running just fine and has downloaded a new unit since this started happening. My grid is running on fully updated Windows XP. Can anyone help me?? PLEASE????? |

There is likely nothing wrong with your computer. The problem is most likely the fact that WCG has just finished Phase 1 of the Human Proteome Folding project and for the moment there are no units available to work on.
----------------------------------------Login to WCG website, go My Grid -> My Projects and see which projects you are signed up for. Also check on the Device Profiles page. If you signed up for only the HPF project then that's why you aren't getting any units. However, if you signed up for HPF plus FAAH (Fight Aids at Home project) then you should be getting FAAH work units. HPF Phase 2 will be starting very soon, possibly a day or 2. As I understand it you will be automatically signed up for Phase 2 if you were signed up for Phase 1. In other words, be patient and you'll start getting units again soon. I'm having the same problem. My agent is in a continual paused state. I checked my firewall settings, I have plenty of memory which I understand is otherwise a limiting factor for HPF2. I'm signed up to work on FAAH and HPF2. At the time this problem began, I was advised that HPF1 had just ended and HPF2 hadn't yet started, so I changed my profile to accept FAAH work units. Nothing! Now that HPF2 has launched and I still don't get any work units, I'm at a loss as to what to do. I need help too!

Me, too. My fastest machine has been stuck doing nothing for almost a week. I've tried rebooting, playing with the firewall, adjusting the projects I allow to run, and even uninstalled and reinstalled the software - and I'm still getting the WCGrid is Paused message everytime I try to pull down a new block of data. Meanwhile, two other machines behind the same router are working fine.
My current guess is that my software is trying to pull down a block from HPF1, and won't clear that setting (even though I've changed it on the server) until it DOES receive a block. But if anyone has another idea, I'd love to hear it! |

I have the same problem, in my computer.
And I joined to all proyects and not send to me new units. |

For UD agent, suggest you download a new copy of the software from WCG and reinstall. Will create a new device, but long as its under your ID will continue to add the points together......if previously you only did HPF1 ONLY and now have activated FAAH and or got automatically added to HPF2 which started friday night June 23, 06, you might have situation of a PC with insufficient crunch power. Please see the various threads to include others which discuss the paused agent.
----------------------------------------These science processes are new bolt-ons to the UD.exe agent, see taskmanager, and may have to be manually added to your firewall exceptions under the code-injection lable.

Shouldn't have any problems with space on my PC since I have 640 MB of RAM. Did as you suggested - downloaded a new copy of WCG software and now I can't even register my agent! So I'm off the grid completely and have no idea where to start to resolve this. I'm so frustrated I want to just chuck the whole idea of participating. Right now it seems to be me versus "the machine" and I'm not winning!

I think you mean 640 GB RAM, correct? Please report any error messages you see when you try to register your agent. Also, what speed is your CPU? |

Have just figured the minimum requirements have increased. My computer no longer is acceptable. Would have been nice to be told instead of the endless trying to start it. Go to
