For UD agent, suggest you download a new copy of the software from WCG and reinstall. If you dont feel like reinstalling, I found that exiting the agent and deleting/renaming the cs.ud file under the Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid directory will force the software to ask you to re-enter your user name and password and create a new profile. you might have situation of a PC with insufficient crunch power. Alas, two of the computers have been rendered unusable by this noble project. They fall just a little short for the two remaining projects (HPF2 and FAAH). Its time to search for a project that my computers can still crunch on. I have 640MB memory, 36.2 GB total hard drive with 24GB available. Speed is 1.79 GHz. Using DSL to connect.
Message given after clicking "Login" on registration is..... "Error in sending Login Information to Grid Server. Please try again. If you are using a proxy server please verify the settings with your network administrator." I'm not on a network so I'm not using a proxy server. |

Have just figured the minimum requirements have increased. My computer no longer is acceptable. Would have been nice to be told instead of the endless trying to start it. Go to For the moment, I exited the WCG/UD interface I was using for HPF1. Attaching to all projects still caused pauses. This is a 500MHz computer which can no longer run FAAH and HPF2. WCG wants 550MHz. I downloaded BOINC and attached to one of the mathematical projects. www.primegrid.com has a quorum=2 and short workunits. It is a bit of a disadvantage for awarding results, but at least the computer can stay busy. Try that for a while. WCG/UD or WCG/BOINC may have something for the slow computers later.https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq The new minimum is 550MHz & mine is about 450MHz. So what do I do? Thanks for the customer service but you are using my computer & electricity for free but you can't advise of requirement changes. My fast computers are running FAAH and HPF2.

bndschelb - I had the same problem that you described and added to the posts in this forum because I was using UD too. I also posted inquiries on the Website support forum. Nothing helped. I even downloaded the UD software three times and tried to register it after download but got an error each time I tried. I finaly deleted everything I could find on my system that was there because of my WCG participation using UD, I deleted the UD software. I then downloaded BOINC and my machine is now crunching again! If your memory size and processing speed meet the minimums needed for these projects (as mine did even though I was being told that this was my "problem"), try what I did.
I have no idea why this seems to be happening to many of us running under UD, but it apparently is specific to UD and not BOINC. Good luck! |

My 500 MHz computer can run FAAH and HPF2 if using BOINC. It must have a lower minimum requirement here than the UD interface.
