Hi,
I think we need a way of attracting more people to WCG. Is there a budget for this? I think a lot more people would join if they knew about it. |

There's a thread on the subject in the chat room. I think your questions are answered there, and we've had quite a bit of discussion about possible strategies.
We'd love your input. Read it through and add your thoughts. |

Turn it into a computer virus. I virus that searches for the cure to a virus. How cute. Additionally, a good virus would infect hundreds of thousands of PCs. Thats crunching.

I know this is only a joke, but I have to make the point anyway: any form of virus is unethical, and the WCG software should not be modified to have viral properties.
Only install the software on computers that you own, or that you are authorised to use, or where you have obtained the owner's consent. Over in the recruitment thread, someone suggested getting OEM computer manufacturers involved. This would have much the same effect, but be legal, ethical and effective. |

Hi, I've posted a comment on attracting more people on HPF2 post; suggested making a family of videos for educational organisations, religious orgs, youth orgs, etc.
Maybe you could do some work on this? Ian Mordantianmordant@homechoice.co.uk |

i THINK THE MOST EASY WAY FOR PUBLICITY WOULD BE
----------------------------------------SOME PROFESIONALY DESIGNED BANNERS, OFICIALLY POSTED BY WCG WEBSITE WITH HTML CODE, FOR EVRY ORGANIZATION UNIVERSITY INDIVIDUAL ETC TO POST ON THERE WEBSITES FORUMS, ETC [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 24, 2006 11:26:44 PM] |

mariduru, your capslock key seems to be stuck.
WCG partner organisations have the right to use the official WCG logo for promotional purposes. More extensive rights, and official banners are being worked on. Meanwhile, why not take advantage of Graham's extensive and prolific graphics skills? |

Publicity would be great but I would much prefer to see BOINC bundeled with Windows. It would be installed at the factory and a new user would be prompted at power on and right there they could be greeted with a short promotion that would get them excited about the idea. In a year's time there could be millions of new volunteers.

Yes, and most of them would probably wind up running SETI, because THAT is the media darling of distributed computing.
