Just have BOINC bundled and download a list and description of the available projects after installation then the users just clicks on the ones he wants to support. Let the user decide what his primary interest would be if anything. Smart designs flow much easier and work more efficiency.

No single distributed computing project alone is going to achieve the status and publicity needed. Maybe, a collaborative effort amongst all the projects involved? Even if our interests lie in different areas there is a common goal.

Public advertising would cost money and need to be well thought out before hand to insure efficiency and success. Maybe, Art Bell on Coast to Coast, the discovery channel, science newspapers/magazines,universities or other places people of interest might be found?

I suppose there would need to be some collaborative effort and donations made? Seti.org asks for donations from the public. I'm sure $10 a month wouldn't put much a dent in most peoples wallets.

I'm just throwing my random thoughts in on it. I think once the distributed computing scene has demonstrated formidable power and excellence then it will flow naturally and do great..until then it seems to be a shoe-string effort with an unsure future. Nothing great has ever proven easy or succeeded on the first few attemps tho...maybe even laughed at or failed miserably. That should be a reason to try harder and feel more pride on what we get done.
