Re: AMD XP 2400+ (2.0 ghz) less performance points than P4 1.5 Ghz?

I'm running an AMD Duron 1.3 GHz, which shows up as a 115 score after the first work unit completed. I can only assume that either there's a bug or some setting on your system, perhaps in BIOS (?) is slowing your system down a lot. Either that, or you have a lot of other stuff running that takes away from the grid agent. confused

The initial rating of your processor depends on what you have running at the time it checks it. The 100 is a default on initial download. Look back to the reply from lawrencehardin and the link. It gets more accurate over multiple results uploaded. <dataman>

Re: AMD XP 2400+ (2.0 ghz) less performance points than P4 1.5 Ghz?

I was talking about my processor rating, not my total computer rating - and I thought that you got points by how much CPU time spent * how fast your system was. Only the CPU time spent on the calculations counts anyways, so why should it derate your processor if the the system is busy when it does the test? WHen the CPU is used by WCG, it still calculates just as fast, it just devotes less time per hour due to higher priority tasks. Basically you get double dinged for a slow processor, even when you don't have one!

This too shall pass. There were several early posts noting that the CPU Time was incrementing even when people were running all out on programs that had to be utilizing all their processor power. So it seems that the points system tries to compensate for this with the processor rating.
