We should use grid tecnology to construct a series of complete DNA sequences to be used for cloning a mammoth.
Before you get into ethical debate about this i would pause for you to consider: If you are religeous then stewardship of the planet is acceptable, and correcting a mistake (animal hunted to extinction) is fine. Moreover you would be fullfilling your obligation to take care of the animal. If you are not religeous then your ethics are probably more subjective and you could either be fine with it, or dislike the idea depending on your life outlook. The NEED for cloning this animal is akin to the need of perserving endagered species. We can also study and learn from them. Ethics as aways are debateable and should be left in open forum. Meanwhile we should start cloning a mammoth. But please do not let opinion or scandal hinder this research (since they are cloning mice and sheep anyway) I understand the genetic defects issues, but like HIV im sure with time we can come to understand an optimal situation. I make this suggestion (as im sure many others have) because this is something totally doable today. I would also love links to similar projects (if any) that are already cloning a mammoth (i know the japanese wanted to like 3 years ago) :) lets face it, we want to see an imperial mastadon walking around wilshire and la brea. |

Yeah that is a pretty good idea... but I still think a project to develope the optimal molecular computer would be the best. Think about it, a project to create a computer that could possibly surpass the best super-computers in the world in the size of a sugar cube(or smaller)? Than link those computers up to the grid and guess what... you have 99% of the world problems solved within a year!

Interesting. But hey, I think we should focus on the things that are present, not past. (They're deep-frozen in the ice so it won't be rot easily anyway!) Some current things are more important, like some kind of research to cure diseases...
errrr... mm..... okay... I think you should talk to someone that really works on this subject. |
