confused locked account in UD client and how to unlock

Hi,

I have found out one strange thing when running UD client on our work shared workstations. Sometimes (or on some workstations) I see that my colleague is logged into UD client even if it starts in my windows profile. So the problem is that no login message prompts on UD start and another person is logged. I've searched for some option in settings and also in startup shortcut (for some option in execution command) - but no luck. I'm still unable to identify why this can happen and how to prevent it. If this happen It's - impossible to reinitiate the login dialog and login with my account and the only option that I have in situations like this - is to leave the agent running or shut it down.

It's impossible to run BOINC in our enviroment because of rules and also I don't have possibility to change the registers - don't have admin account (as well as my UDlocked colleague)

- What can I do for reinitiate startup dialog or unlock logged account? Is there any option to lock the account and where?
Please advice me confused

thanks a lot!

The only thing I can think of is perhaps you are using XP and fast user switching.

If this is the case, it may be best just to let it continue to run.

Re: Didactylos works fast

Hello HaWran,
Less than 3 hours after posting in your thread, Didactylos posted a method for people without Administrator rights to install BOINC here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=6656

You might find this helpful. At least, it is another option to consider.

Re: Didactylos works fast

Sorry, but this is not the solution which I'm searching for. This thread is in category UD Windows Agent support, so I cannot accept any invitations to start running BOINC.

Small explanation: we have 24x7 production, shared workstations and multiple users environment, user access rights and installed UD clients. Every user could login and use it. But many of them don't using it.

What I'm searching for is solution that I will configure the client to log on within my account on computer, regardless which user is logged in. No prompts for passwords, no notifications, no error messages.

Is the solution to copy cs.ud file from my correct-working client to destination workstation to c:\program files\worldcommunitygrid and add shortcut to All users startup?

Re: Didactylos works fast

Only one copy of the UD agent can be running on a machine at one time. I would suggest that you remove the link to the agent from the startup folder(s) (See Start->Programs-> Startup) for any users that have it and instead run it as a scheduled task in the background. You can use Start-> Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> Scheduled tasks to add one which starts the agent when the machine is rebooted or some other suitable time and under whichever ID installed the agent. The program to run is UD.exe located in your install directory, usually "c:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid\ud.exe". This won't let you open the agent window however. To do that, you would have to stop the agent using the task manager and then open it manually.
