cool Re: Why will Linux contribute more performance?

If you read the paragraph Alther referred to, you will see it mentions Linux X86, then Apple MAC (OS X running on a non-Intel chip), then to be decided. There are so many configurations of operating systems and processor chips. But the main point is - - the WCG is ambitious!!

Re: Why will Linux contribute more performance?

wink
Linux is a .

Please, I love Linux as much as anyone and have several machines myself that would love to play on the WCG.

A differant point to argue is that WALMART sold many $100 to $200 Wintel/VIA machines w/ [that damn] Lindows O/S . We only use ours when we need a second PC to surf the web,eMail to our ISP or practice OpenOffice. we would leave that 800Mhz VIA chip powered up if we could [even] install WCGrid.org on the LINUX/Debian PC. confused

If you are referring to the Software FAQ, I didn't see a mention of Linux X86 (perhaps I missed it). I did see mentions of Linux and in a paragraph towards the bottom, I saw a mention of "Linux, UNIX, and other platforms" Is there somewhere else I should be looking? I think the botttom line is, they are planning on supporting other platforms in time. Which is good enough for me.
