Workunit Name Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit faah0373_ d207n135_ x1hpv_ 00 Valid 04/09/2006 01:15:52 04/09/2006 08:36:01 4.66 28 / 34 faah0373_ d207n135_ x1hpv_ 00 Valid 04/09/2006 00:57:52 04/09/2006 15:19:47 9.33 37 / 34 faah0373_ d207n135_ x1hpv_ 00 Valid 04/09/2006 00:41:34 04/09/2006 10:10:32 7.71 34 / 34 faah0373_ d207n135_ x1hpv_ 00 Valid 04/09/2006 00:38:10 04/09/2006 18:22:57 13.65 88 / 34 cut and paste from boinc client, sorry it loses clarity outside the "table" 1st machine is mine 4.66 hrs slowest machine took 13.65 hrs , there is a 7hr and 9hr machine as well. note we all got exactly the same granter credit despite some claiming more .. i have noticed also that sometimes there is credit granted when 3 out of 4 machines have returned work cheers In this example the first three results returned form the quorum, so the claimed credits are 28, 37 and 34. 34 is the middle result so it is granted to all participants. The fourth result claiming 88 doesn't get a look in because it was returned after the quorum of 3 was reached. If the fourth result (the claim of 88) was actually returned first, and the first result (the claim of 28) was returned last then the quorum would have been 34, 37 and 88 (lowest to highest) and the credit awarded would be 37, which when the fourth result (claim of 28) was returned it would be granted 37 as well. The help pages seem to be updated - I can no longer find the reference to the quorum of 4. And judging by the frequency when I get exactly the score I claimed, it does seem likely they're using quorum of 3.
I wonder if someone in the know can confirm this? |

As lawrencehardin determined above - we are sending out 4 results and validating when 3 are returned.
----------------------------------------We are looking at our options so that we only have to send out 3 results. However currently if we were to only send out three results and if one of those results is never returned, then it would take an extended period before a new result would be sent out and the other two could be validated. Until we have a good way to deal with this problem we will leave it at 4 sent and validation at 3. Kevin [Edit 1 times, last edit by knreed at Apr 10, 2006 6:01:25 PM] |

Inconclusive means that so far, there aren't 3 identical results, but 3 or more results have been returned. So either your result is in error, or one of the others is.
It will show as valid or error in a day or two. Still, you've got a lot of inconclusives, there. If they change to "error" then you should check your machine. You may have a memory defect. |
