Reading through some other threads in the forums got my mind wondering about whether you have the BOINC Manager running in the system tray, the task bar or as a minimized/maximized window matters. There's no whoop-de-doo whiz-bang graphics that need a lot of computations and thus CPU cycles but it is updating text on a regular basis. Does anyone know if that could amount to anything of consequence?

Hi keithhenry,
No, some of the background OS processes are more computationally intensive. On a modern PC, that all leaves 99% for your distributed computer client (except for anti-virus and other security programs. They can take up as much as the entire OS, easily.) mycrofth |
