After installing WC Grid Client I get a pop-up error message with only a red cross in the upper left corner and a thin line indicating a push-button, i.e. no text. When pressing this button, the WC Grid client close down and disappear from the system tray.
The same thing happens after re-booting and logging into my account. The problem occurs on three different coputers. Can anyone help? |

Cudjoe,
I'm sure one of the WCG developers will get this solved for you in short order. First, it would be helpful for you to state which client you've installed, which operating system you're using. I can only speak to a Windows situation, but this kind of thing sounds to me like a consequence of some adware or virus blocking software. You can be assured the software does not have any viruses if obtained from the official source. Does the same problem occur after you've disabled adware, spyware, and virus, and firewall protections? If not, you could isolate which program might be interfering. This is just a suggestion on a possible approach you can take yourself, but I'm probably going to leave any further advice to the experts. Best wishes and happy crunching! |

Cudjoe --
----------------------------------------This sounds like a problem we have seen several times with McAfee VirusScan 8.0. Take a look at this thread and this one. I believe there is a thread that indicates that the problem only happens when buffer overflow is enabled, but I am not able to find that specific thread at the moment. This thread makes reference to that. Best regards, [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 20, 2006 1:01:46 AM] |

Hi Lewis and MNTechno Guy
Jabdabaduu! The problem was exactly as described. I disabled the "Buffer Overflow protection" process in the McA.. VirusScan Console. and the problem is now gone. Thanks again. I'll go Crunching now. /Asger (Cudjoe) |
