I was just wondering if we were going to get multi-theaded support for dual core processors and if we were going to get a status bar that let us see how far along the projects are. I would like to actually see the progress we are making.

Hello blue eyes,
BOINC can run as many threads as your computer can fit into memory. The project status bar is more problematical, because so far we have been running projects with flexible goals. We have been allowing the HPF project to expand. This same possibility exists for FAAH. The old military adage: 'Reinforce success, starve failure' applies to scientific research projects as well. If a project reports interesting results to the Advisory Board, the Board is likely to recommend continuing it past the initial agreed limit. But we did show a thermometer with a rising total for the HPF project in the status reports. We might come up with a generic equivalent for all our projects, just so long as it is not marked in percentage points. We are still gaining experience. mycrofth |
