Hi All
----------------------------------------Without noticing the time, I clicked the "View Your Scores" link on the agent at 6.10pm UTC and got the stats update notice. When I joined back in July, this only seemed to take about 10 minutes at a time to update stats, but today I was told it would be over 30 minutes - so not back until 6.40pm. If this is now the standard interval, then I guess that's fair enough as there have been so many more people join since then... ergo more stats to update. However, it occurs that there are now 2 hours a day when stats are not available. (Assuming this particular stats update wasn't an unusually long one?) What is going to happen to the number of updates as the number of stats grows? It may eventually get to the point where 4 stats updates a day could take several hours and it could be preferable to have stats that were more available, but up to 8 or 12 hours old rather than the current 6. Are there any plans to review the stats update interval as the time to update increases? |

Are there any plans to review the stats update interval as the time to update increases? We plan to make sure that the stats processing time does not unneccessarily interfere with members ability to access this site. If this means running stats less frequently - so be it. Hopefully we will be able to find enough inefficiencies in the stats process when we do some work on them over the next few months that we can improve the performance to shorten the run time. It is also possible that we may do something like 'roll-up' user and device stats to a monthly total for all stats that are older then a year (or something like that). This would significantly reduce the the amount of data in the system. We have not done a full analysis and design so these are just ideas that we are considering. We are aware of the growing time and we do plan to make sure that it is addressed. |

Thanks for the response. It sounds like this is being handled well then (still find this a refreshing change from UD/Grid).
