Hello all together!
Wish a happy new year to all of you! How could existing FAAH accounts be migrated to BOINC and are the alread earned credits lost in this process? Hmm and when thinking about this matter a bit more, how do I get an account ID for BOINC. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work. Regards Frank |

If you read http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/migration_2_wcg.html you will see that there is no way to transfer points earned to BOINC.
After you download the BOINC installation package from http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/viewJoinNow.do (labelled Linux) your account ID will show up in 'My Grid' - 'My Profile'. So then you use that to attach a prior installation of BOINC or a download of Windows BOINC from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php Let me know if I have not been clear. mycrofth |

Thanks for your answer mycrofth!
Unfortunately the first link you provided only shows how to deinstall the first client and how to install the new one, but doesn't at all describe how points are generated and stored and why a "database transfer" isn't possible. But you don't need to answer if you have more urgent things to do, the "no" was sufficient enough. The second part of the answer wasn't as informative either. ;) Simply there is no linux package for download at the link you provided for FAAH! Only the windows client is available. Unfortunately I could not verify your info about the ID as well. I'm sure I checked at the given location but maybe I need some new glasses. Hmm maybe the ID is given only for Linux installations? In this case I've got the wrong client, since I'm running FAAH on Windows machines only. In this case sorry that I've troubled you. I should have given you more informations about my client and my OS, sorry. But another question arises ("oh no! not again!"). If there is no BOINC client for Windows machines yet, will there be one? Thanks again, and excuse me if I messed things up. Regards Frank |

You can run WCG as a BOINC project with Windows ... Just sign up for an account as you would for Linux, then attach with your BOINC Client on Windows machines.
I have no Linux, but do have 8 Windows machines doing WCG ... :) |

Thanks Paul!
Just figured this trick out a moment ago, but you were quicker to post. :) Quite a "workaround" to download the Linux client to get an project ID to then use the Windows BOINC client. *laughing* |
