Hello Scorpios49,
I assume that you are trying to run a video render program at the same time as FightAIDS@Home and are having ?2? problems, one with reboot. Does your computer suddenly reboot with no cause? This should not happen. Try uninstalling and run the render program for a while. Then try reinstalling (be sure to check the Previous Member box). Occasionally something goes wrong during an install. Another possibility is something wrong with your computer system. Look over the diagnostics in the 'Useful Utilities' thread: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2490 Could you give us some more specific information about what goes wrong? mycrofth |

I am using the PCI-X version on a similar system. I have noticed throughout my history of building systems that Windows+adv_graphics+AMD=stability problems.
My current system (WinXP 32-bit sp2) is now rebooting less than twice a month. I gave up on 64-bit Windows for now. CHECK ALL DRIVERS. What is your sound card? If it is one of the last 4 generations of SoundBlaster, then consider dumping it. I use my Mobo sound. Also, AMD+nVidia+SB+(SiL)_onboard_RAID is an impossible combination. When I get home I can give full details on the system config. It boils down to the Windows flaw of embedding video into the kernel. These advanced configurations flaunt problems and they never seem to be able to fix them. I cannot tell you how many times I went back to a TNT2 video card just to get some crucial work done with a system. |

I don't know, but my config is a nVidia GeForce FX 5200 video card on a AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 1 GB DDR 2700SDRAM, ASUSTeK A7N8X-LA motherboard, and running on XP SP2 w/ all patches and latest drivers I could get. When I play some DirectX or OpenGL games, and when I minimise them, then return to them, then repeat a few times by minimising and restoring, the comp suddenly reboots. I've had this config for 3 years, but only recently has this started to happen, so I'm guessing it may be from the drivers? No problems here with WCG, but I thought it would be good to mention it here... I'm a gamer...

Download a program such as Motherboard Monitor and check the CPU temps. I'd bet that because WCG is running your CPU at 100% 24/7 that it's causing too much heat. If your temps are too high you might need to add another fan or limit WCG to a smaller % of CPU useage. |

Overheating?
Here is a software fix: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2683 But be sure to clean your fans, heatsinks and vents to get rid of dust. Something is not right if your hardware cannot cool the CPU properly. mycrofth |
