I set my Windows to get maximum effeciveness:
- by setting My Computer / Properities / Advanced / performance / I set best effeciveness - not appearance, - setting blank screen saver, - turning off all useless programs at startup, - after I finish working with browser (Firefox rules ;), Excel, Word or anything else I turn them off - most of the time my computer is on, there works only WCG agent, Antivirus and Firewall. Can I do sth else to make my computer crunch faster ??? |

i don't think so... some anti-virus programs might slow it down, you can check your cpu usage in 'task manager'. mine runs about 98% crunching shown in 'processes/cpu'.

I've heard that I can switch off some unused system services Start->Run->msconfig-> services(bookmark), but I don't know which one.
I've heard also about "nlite" program, where I can cut some staff from my own iso image of Win Xp and switch off a lot of unused staff. Has anyone done it ??? |

there is an option to delete some useless services by clicking (i don't know exactly how it's called in english, because for years i'm running windows in my national language) in control panel ->administration tools (or something like that) -> services there are almost the same services like in msconfig, but there are descriptions, which service is responsible for what, and then you can choose, if this service have to be turned on automaticly during loading system, or it can be turned on manualy, when needed, or turned off.
also, if you can't erase any of listed loading with system programs, just go to regedit (adress is shown on the right) and just delete adequate keys... (HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\current version\run |
