I do not know if anyone has asked this before, but are the work units of different sizes. I just had one that took over 16hrs to do and I have just checked my results and had one a few units ago. The rest being about 4-5 hrs. Is this normal for an olf P III model?

The average work unit length is about 10 hours for the average 1.8ghz machine. However, each work unit has some variability in how difficult the computation is and can take longer or shorter times. Plue, if you have a slower machine than the average, it will also take longer. We cannot predict the exact time any particular work unit will take. We can only somewhat predict and control the average length of time for all work units.

Here is a post I made on this subject a few days ago: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=5278#41889 Less than 4 minutes difference on average between HPF and FAAH work units! I was really surprised when I looked up the statistics and saw this. mycrofth |
