Hi folks! I hate to sound stupid but I am having a problem finding my account number. One was never e-mailed to me. I use BOINC and want to attach this project to my system but I need an account number to do that. It's late and I'm tired so I'll check back in a day or two to, hopefully, find an answer to my problem. My user name is johnx, I really don't want to give my e-mail address here but if you need it I will post it for you. I downloaded the program, it installed on my machine just fine, I filled out the form for registration but the form kept comming up with 'password does not match user name in our records'. Thats when I used 'johnx' to create a new account. Can someone help me? Thanks!

Johnx, it sounds like you downloaded the UD agent for windows. If you already have the BOINC agent installed, then you'll want to uninstall the UD agent from your system and retreive your account key from the website. Follow the instructions in the FAQ provided on obtaining an account key.

I originally installed the UD client when I joined WCG. Going to 'My Grid' and 'My Profile' did not provide me with a BOINC account key, even though I had begun the initial steps to install BOINC (the account key is apparently needed in order to affiliate my BOINC agent with WCG). However, when I went to the link provided by uplinger, above, and then clicked on the link to 'my profile' within the specific answer to the question "How do I register for BOINC at World Community Grid and get my account key?" -- near the bottom of that FAQ page, then my profile page changed to display an account number. I then copied and pasted it into the appropriate place to finish my installation/registration, and now it seems to be running fine. Just wanted to pass this on in case anyone might find it helpful. The link in that FAQ has the parameter on it that tells the server to register you for BOINC. I believe that was the reason that uplinger provided the link. If you haven't registered for BOINC, and don't use the special link, then there won't be an account key in your profile.
