I downloaded the agent to my computer at work last week (a Dell computer, if that helps any) but it doesn't seem to have downloaded anything.
My computer is left on pretty much full time, including over the weekends (office policy, apparenty computer services over here does something to all the computers over the weekend) so I had been hoping my work computer could contribute a lot of hours to this project during its down time, but apparently not yet. When I try to read the help features, it basically tries to suggest that maybe my computer isn't connected to the Internet. But I use web browsing and email all the time when I'm at work so the internet connection in general must be doing okay. Or is there something I'm missing? As far as I know, my computer hooks up to the internet pretty much automatically, though I don't fully understand how that side of things work (i.e., whether it's connected continuously or whether it just hooks up when I actually request a specific web page or when Lotus Notes goes through its regular cycle of downloading email or whatever). I saw some stuff about changing proxies and fire walls and other stuff but I have to admit all the instructions went over my head and, because this isn't really my computer and I don't have official permission to have this agent on this computer, I don't want to mess around with things too much unless I understand exactly what I'm doing, or at least have assurance that what I do shouldn't be too risky. Anything requiring me to fiddle around with firewalls definitely sounds too risky for a computer-amauteur like me to be involved with. I don't want to accidentally cause real problems with my computer and then have to explain to computer support how it happened! Any advice for me? Geared to Computer Dunce level, please. Thanks, "2wolves" |

I don't have official permission to have this agent on this computer Get written permission first, and then we'll talk about it.People have been fired from their companies for less. |
