Looking for a present.

I am looking for a silver chain and locket. Sounds easy right?

Wrong!
It needs to be the one in a song. Brandysung by Looking glass. (Right click saveas.) The line is at 1:03 in the song.

I was hoping someone know a way I can get a braided chain and locket made from the finest silver from the north of spain.

Anyone have any ideas? It's turned out to be suprisenly hard to do. I do speak fluent spanish so all I need is a contact.

Re: Looking for a present.

Hi Pondy, long time no speak smile

That's a pretty specific request - does it need to be spanish, perhaps try a real jeweller - not just a shop that sells the stuff but someone who can make it.

Re: Looking for a present.

Are you certain about this?

The inscription "pond scum" just might dampen the moment a bit. wink

Sorry, but it was there. peace

Seriously, though, it seems that all you need to do is find a reputable jeweler in Northern Spain who would be willing to fax you some locket/chain sample pictures along with the prices.

Pues, si hablas el espanol, no puede ser una probema, si? (Please keep in mind that I'm digging really deep into memory here.)

Also, there must be some regular posters who might be able to provide a helpful contact or two.

Actually, I think I'll give it a whirl myself.

Good luck. And keep us posted, just in case.

(Btw, great song.)

Re: Looking for a present.

So far I've come to 3 conclusions, pond scum:

You are right. It isn't as easy as it appears that it would be.
If you are not fluent in Spanish (me) the Internet is fairly useless.
I will have to spend some time visiting Spain.

Thanks alot! wink

Now that's an answer worth working for.

Re: Looking for a present.

Pondy,

May be able to help. Wife is a silver jewellery designer/maker. No probs with braided silver necklace / locket. Origin may be more difficult, unless you are willing to literally accept that the Uk is 'North' of Spain.

;-)

Re: Looking for a present.

Sorry. It needs to be spain. It's funny how many true jewelry stores know the song. Shoot if someone wanted to be set for life all they would have to do is move to spain and make these suckers. The song sells them.
