I am running the windows agent on a pentium M 1.6GHz machine. Is it supposed to report the processor type as a pentium III? It appears to report everything else correctly.

I'm not sure but I think you have to wait for your first result to be uploaded. I know that you have to wait for the first result before any CPU benchmarks are done to get your CPU score to show correctly so I'd just wait for that first result and see if it changes.

Yes, wait for the first unit to send/receive and look again, or even another unit or two. The test is not guaranteed to run every time. The processor table may also be old, and may not report the EXACT model of very new computers like your Pentium M. Watch the processor number point value for the best comparison between yours and any other systems. This AMD64 4000+ gets 235, but it doesn't always show the correct clock speed in the display since it is a fairly new model.
----------------------------------------Overall value includes memory and storage (storage can be bumped up to 10 Gb in the device profile manager).

The Pentium M is based upon the same base architecture as the Pentium 3 as far as I understand. I doubt the software recognising the model stepping incorrectly is cause for any alarm though - it should crunch away all the same.

Actually, it has reported in many times and submitted units of work, as I've been running the agent on an average 5 hours per day since August. I thought with time it would've changed it as well.
As noted, it appears to crunch along just fine, I just wondered whether it was a bug in the code that gathers device information. |

Hello skee,
The processor identification subroutine was written years ago. There was no Pentium M when it was written. But that does not affect the benchmark speed which shows when you click on Processor. mycrofth |

I am running the windows agent on a pentium M 1.6GHz machine. Is it supposed to report the processor type as a pentium III? It appears to report everything else correctly. The processor type is just descriptive text. The processor score is derived via a benchmark run before each workunit starts. The software is several years old, written long before Pentium Ms and Athlon 64's were around. Most of the time, it reports the manufacterer's CPU Model # (e.g. my Pentium M is reported as an Intel 06D6). The reason your Pentium M is being reported as a P3 is that Ms were derived from the Pentium 3 and the first generation of the chips used P3 model IDs. Later generations have significant improvements and are identified only by their model ID now (just like the Athlon 64 CPUs). As for clock speed, I haven't seen it report the wrong clock speed yet, but it's possible I suppose. My Athlon 64 3000+ is correctly reported as running at 2GHz and my Pentium M is also correctly reported as running at 2GHz.
